AS/NZS 4586 Slip Resistance
AS/NZS 4586 classifies new flooring surfaces by their wet slip resistance using a pendulum tester, outputting P1 (lowest) through P5 (highest).
Why it matters for Australian projects
The Australian NCC and workplace-safety guidance reference AS 4586 for wet-area and high-traffic slip compliance. For stairs, entrance foyers, bathrooms and commercial kitchens the specifier must check AS 4586 P-rating against the project's fall-risk classification.
