EN 13501-1 Reaction to Fire
EN 13501-1 classifies floor coverings by their reaction to fire, using burning-behaviour and smoke classes (A1fl, A2fl, Bfl, Cfl...).
Why it matters for Australian projects
AS 9239.1 is the Australian equivalent (ISO 9239-1 critical radiant flux). Where an AS 9239.1 report is not yet available, EN 13501-1 acts as a reasonable substitute to demonstrate a coating is not combustibly problematic. For NCC Class 9b (schools, hospitals) and certain Class 2/3 egress paths, fire behaviour of floor finishes must be verified.

Always cross-check against the current NCC edition; AS 9239.1 remains the authoritative Australian test and your certifier may require specific CRF figures rather than an EN class.
