Can Bona Classic be used on Grey Gum?
Bona does not explicitly address the combination of Bona Classic on Grey Gum. Grey Gum is classified medium-high tannin.
Bona Classic TDS names only Blackbutt and Tallowwood in its explicit do-not-use list; Grey Gum is not called out. As a dark pigmented hardwood, Intense is the safer choice; trial application recommended.
The conservative default is to follow Bona's general primer-selection logic:
• For high-tannin or dark hardwoods: specify Bona Intense.
• For softwoods and parquetry: Bona Classic is particularly suitable.
• For a whitewashed look on pale hardwoods: Bona White is the intended primer.
• Under Bona Traffic HD Raw: use Bona Classic UX.
A trial application is essential whenever the matrix status is 'unlisted'.
